About this event

TEDxYouth@SantaMonica is proud to be partnering with Santa Monica High School to create a TED experience for the local community. We are putting together an exciting and inspiring program of live speakers and TEDTalks for a memorable day of fun, insight and revelation.

Our conversations will cover such diverse topics as soccer, porn and graffiti, but will always be guaranteed to make you think a little differently about how you define yourself, and are defined by others.

Confirmed Speakers

Cindy Gallop, Entrepreneur
“Make Love, Not Porn”
Cindy will expand on her now-legendary 2009 TEDtalk as she shares her views on the impact of technology on intimacy amongst young people. We predict that this compelling speaker will be a highlight of the day.

Eugene Martin, Film Director
“The Anderson Monarchs”
Eugene is making a feature-length documentary (trailer above) about an all-girls soccer team competing, living, and thriving in an at-risk urban neighborhood in Philadelphia. These girls show how anybody can rise above adversity to achieve their dreams.

Jason Pitts, College Student
“From Prom to Youtube”
Jason, a former SAMOHI student, became a YouTube sensation earlier this year thanks to his unusual prom invite. Jason describes the impact of that incredible journey.

Eric Wahl, Artist
Erik is a recognized artist and author who inspires audiences to achieve greater levels of performance.  After first working in the business world and playing with his art; Erik now PLAYS in the business world by WORKING with his art. Erik’s sought after artwork and public installations can be seen around the world. And as one of the country’s top platform speakers, he shares his powerful message with audiences from coast to coast.

Other confirmed speakers include:
