Jazz on the Lawn 2011 is a free event, open to the public. The concerts will take place on the lawn in front of Santa Monica City Hall. Free parking will be available after 4pm at the Civic Auditorium Parking Lot, located at 1855 Main St.  This event is produced by the City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division.

Performance Schedule:

August 7th 5:00pm-7:00pm
Theo Saunders and Intergeneration
Playing global rhythmic grooves and straight ahead swing, this high-energy jazz sextet performs original compositions and unusual arrangements of covers.

August 14th 5:00-7:00pm
The Tony Guerrero Quintet
Performing music from the Great American Songbook from the 1930s-60s, including music from artists like Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Louis Prima and Tony Bennett, the quintet’s high energy sound is reminiscent of the Jet-Set and Atomic Age eras of the 1950s and 60s (think TV’s “Mad Men”) and their performance harkens back to the era of New York Supper Clubs and Las Vegas Show Rooms.

August 21st 5:00-7:00pm
The Electones
Playing straight-jazz, blues, rhythm and soul, this Los Angeles-based guitar-led organ trio creates heady original compositions that give plenty to think about, but it’s what happens from the neck down that really sets them apart.

August 28th 5:00-7:00pm
Lesa Terry and Friends
Lesa Terry and her violin, along with an all-star rhythm section, present an eclectic mix of soulful sounds including blues, swing, bepop, Cuban, Brazillian, Middle Eastern and beyond.
